Each and every element of the amp from pre-amp through to speaker output have been thoroughly considered and refined using all this past knowledge meaning the player has all the best from the past with the reliability and control-ability from the very latest technology all at their fingertips.

Four selected 6L6 power valves form the backbone of this 100 watt high-gain Blackstar guitar amplifier head and provide incredible dynamic range. Twin channels but with four modes all accessible from the included 4-way footswitch, all running through the Blackstar ISF tone shaping with the Super Crunch feature being the deadly icing on the cake. Take everything down a level by utilising the DPR knob on the Series One 104 6L6 which alters the power amp stage from 100 watt output to a more neighbour friendly 10 watts (still pretty loud though!) this allows the Series One amps to be used in massive settings and also much more modest venues. Clean Channel has 2 modes, Bright and Warm emulation the tones available from both Class A or the mildly edgey Class AB type. Overdrive Channel has 2 further modes. Crunch which takes the overdrive from a tasty and smooth soft distortion right up to really flat out contemporary rhythm sounds. Super Crunch takes the levels of distortion the very maximum with a wide range of tone still possible even at this high level of overdrive. The overdrive channel has been developed to offer High Gain tones but to produce these while being devoid of the 'fizzing' which many competitor products create as a consequence. This is made possible because special 'tone shaping' strategies have been instituted which not only alleviate some of the less desirable side effects but also augment the player's tonal options, since the sound cleans up massively as the volume of the playing is dropped. Blackstar Amplifier's own unique tone shaping system ISF (Infinite Shape Feature, patent applied for) gives you a single control to alter the response on the entire tone system in the Series One. At one end you have typical UK amp sound, at the other US amp tone, in between you can choose any blend between the two. Another unique Patent-Applied-For Blackstar innovation DPR (Dynamic Power Reduction) is incorporated into the Series One amps. DPR reduces the power of the output stage from full power (100W) down to 10% of maximum (10W) and any power output in between. This means that the full tonal depth of the EL34 power amplifier can be enjoyed at any volume, making the S1-100 ideal for recording, smaller gigs and even home practice use. Working in conjunction with the power amplifier voltages, this method of power reduction suffers none of the loss in tone of other power reduction systems.
