Delay and
echo pedals create a copy of your
guitar sound and repeat it with a time
delay. The
delay created is either a
slap, which is a single repetition, or an
echo, which has muliple repetition.
Delay and
echo pedals are available in both digital and analogue. Digital
delays produce perfect sounding copies of the sound and analogue produces a warmer, but less flexible sound.
Looping pedals have extremely long
delay times. This Allows the guitarist to build up phrases to play along. Often used to build up parts in a solo performance or for playback later.
Reverb pedals create recreate the sound of spring or plate
reverb. The most common reverb effects pedals are digital.
Reverb is created using a large number of
delays decaying over time into the air and and walls.
