Modulation guitar effects pedals include
phase shifter,
vibrato,
flanger,
chorus, and
rotary speaker. A phase shifter effects pedal creates a
whoosing sound similar to that of a jet. It takes an incoming
guitar signal and creates a copy of out of phase. A
vibrato effects pedal can be simulataiously a
volume effect,
filtering effect and
time based effect. A
flanger effects pedal has a sound similar to that of an
auto-wah but not quite as strong. It is also closely related to chorus. A
Chorus effects pedal gives the effect of several
guitars being played at the same time producing a bigger sound. A
rotary speaker effects pedal recreates the sound of rotary speakers that are spinning and/or place a rotating baffle in front of it creating a doppler
effect .
