There are so many guitar amp combos on the market these days it can be difficult to know where to start! 30 watt guitar amps are perfect for the house, for practicing and even some small gigs. If you want a combo that you can turn down to a sensible volume but still have a good sound, usually with a larger 10 or 12 inch speaker, then the 30 watt combo is the way to go. Here is a list of our top selling 30 watt guitar amps, perfect for practicing:
Marshall MG30FX
The Marshall MG4 Range covers everything from 10 watt combos to 100 watt stacks. The MG4 Series is Marshall Amp's introductory range of amps and offers Marshall tone at a budget price. The Marshall MG30FX is solid state amp that has digital features with an analogue heart. The Marshall MG30 does not offer amp modelling, you have to look at the Marshall JMD1 Series for that, but relies on that trusty Marshall quality tone. Four channels can be programmed to use with the Marshall MG4 Stompware. The fact that you can program 4 different sounds with this makes this seriously versatile! Also included on the Foot Pedal is a handy tuner. The Stompware pedal is normally sold separately, currently at Merchant City Music we are shipping them together as a package. This makes the Marshall MG30FX a very good deal indeed!
Overall, the Marshall MG30FX is a versatile package with great sounding digital effects and great programmable sounds.
Laney P35 Prism
Laney are another British guitar amp manufacturer who offer excellent value for money. The Laney P35 Prism is a 30 watt digital amplifier with serious amounts of features. The Laney P35 comes with two different modes: Hero and Live. Hero Mode has 11 presets that take inspiration from well known guitar sounds. Selecting these sounds displays a large panel of seriously cool flashing lights and LEDs! The Live Mode lets you set your own sounds. The sounds can be set up using the four channels. The channels can be selected with a Laney FS2 Footswitch but this is not included in the package. There is a good range of Laney amps to model plus more and a great selection of multiple effects. The overdrives on this amp are great for riffing and searing lead.
Altogether, the Laney P35 Prism makes for a great value package with a huge amount of features packed into one cool looking amp combo!
Roland CUBE-30X
The Roland Cube-30X is compact, built like a tank and seriously loud for it's size. Offering a slightly less features than some of it's competitors, the Roland Cube 30X is also slightly more expensive. With only two channels, Clean and Overdriven, the options are more limited. Amp modeling is basic but very usable. The effects are also more limited but perfectly good. Where the Roland Cube excels though is it's build quality and the sounds it produces. The quality and types of sounds are excellent. Having the Roland Jazz Chorus Amp Model built in give you a solid, fantastic clean sound that is perfect for jazz. Other notable amp sounds include the Tweed, Black Panel, Classic Stack and Rectifier. All are great overdrives and thick, saturated distortions. The sounds, although less of them than it's competitors, are all highly usable and of the highest quality.
What you get with the Roland Cube 30 is a very well made amp combo with a small range of excellent quality sounds. Built to last!
Vox VT30
The Vox VT30 Valvetronix features a huge number of amp sounds, twenty-two, and an extensive range of effects, eleven. The Vox VT30 also features Vox's Valve Reactor Power Amp with a 12AX7 Tube. This helps to warm the digital sound of the amp. You can also half the power of the amp to 15 watts at the turn of a dial. There are so many amps, effects and artist presets on the Vox VT30 that it is possible to get lost in it all! The sounds in the Vox though are thankfully all very usable and once you get the hang of the set up of the amp it's fairly straight forward to operate.
