Gibson Guitars Raided for endagered species of Rosewood from Madagascar

19 November 2009

Gibson Guitar's facility in Nashville has been raided by police and environmental agents. While no charges have yet been filed, the raid took place under the legislation of the so-called Lacey Act, which looks to regulate the importing of endangered species of rosewood from Madagascar. The East African island is one of the world's leading suppliers of the valued hardwood.

Sadly Merchant City Music no longer sell Gibson or Epiphone guitars after they changed their dealership network in 2008. After being one of the top UK independent Gibson/Epiphone dealers for over 10 years they preferred to have their guitars sold by Chain/Multiple Stores in Glasgow.
