The Breedlove 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic Concert CE is a special Masterclass model, built to commemorate 30 years of Breedlove Guitars. The highest grades of wood have been used for the body, neck and aesthetic accents. Breedlove’s distinctive winged bridge hearks back to the company’s earlier days, as does the subtle “B & Co.” headstock logo. A lone North West Coast Salmon is inlayed into the fretboard, signalling Breedlove’s embeddedness in its natural Bend, Oregon environment. This very special guitar is supplied in a custom Ameritage Hard Case.

The Breedlove 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic Concert CE is now available from Merchant City Music, online and in our Glasgow store. We are Glasgow’s longest-established guitar specialist, with a reputation grounded in outstanding customer service. Every instrument we sell is subjected to a rigorous check-over and professional setup before it ships, ensuring you receive the best possible example. We offer fast and secure shipping to the UK, Europe and Worldwide.

Breedlove 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic Concert CE

Handcrafted and hand voiced from clear-cut free, sustainable 3A Sitka spruce and highly figured myrtlewood, and trimmed with figured walnut binding and myrtle appointments, this Sound Optimized Masterclass limited edition—celebrating Breedlove’s history of innovation—is a dazzling display of American guitar artistry. The high grade tonewoods and expert luthiery have resulted in a guitar which sparkles like a fine champagne. Every ounce of tone has been wrung from the body, which responds to the lightest touch, while maintaining perfect composure and character when more volume is required.

All-Sustainable Tonewoods

The Northwest Classic utilises Sitka Spruce and Mytlewood for its top, back and sides. Popularized by Breedlove, myrtlewood, from the windblown Oregon coast, combines the best elements of rosewood, mahogany and maple—rich bass, warm midrange and clear, bright trebles—for a truly versatile guitar. Each instrument is individualized by the gnarled, wildly varied, but always arresting grain patterns. The Myrtlewood on this particular guitar has been specially selected for its highly figured grain, stunning to look at from any angle. Appropriately, both the Salmon inlay on the fretboard, and headstock logo, are inlayed using the same wood.

Sitka Spruce is the world’s most popular topwood, and not without reason. Sitka has an ideal strength-to-weight ratio, yielding a strong fundamental, high velocity of sound and a pleasing elasticity. This results in a wood which sounds great for heavy strumming, light fingerpicking and everything in between.

Breedlove uses no clear-cut woods in any of its Made in Bend models, including this Masterclass Northwest Classic. Featuring sustainably sourced all solid exotic and native tonewoods, this fine acoustic guitar has been handcrafted by skilled luthiers who are as sensitive to the needs of the earth as they are to building the best sounding and playing guitars.

Concert Body

The Concert is Breedlove’s most popular body shape, favoured by players because it is well-balanced, compact, comfortable to play, and offers all the qualities of a great sounding guitar. It generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The Concert works well when played fingerstyle, as vocal accompaniment, or at a full strum.

Sound Optimization & Hand Voicing

The Breedlove 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic Concert CE is hand voiced, with an experienced luthier meticulously tapping, listening and shaving away tiny curls of exquisite tonewood to target specific, measurable frequencies that will make it sound its very best. The tone woods are carefully milled, weighed and considered, with the back and top specifically tuned to each other to create a light, responsive guitar with superior tone and sustain.

Breedlove Neck

Breedlove craftsmen often say, “No neck feels better than a Breedlove neck.” They may be a bit biased, but there’s something in the sentiment! Here’s their secret: hands-on sculpting. After basic machining, each Breedlove neck goes through a comprehensive, build and finish process, starting with the hand shaping of each and every neck. Next, the perfectly sculpted neck heads into the finish process where it receives a wash coat and sealer. Then, over a three-day period, multiple finish coats are applied, and the neck is level sanded. In the final stage, the finish is perfected through a process of hand-buffing rubbing, achieving exactly the right thickness for perfect action and playability.

An electro acoustic powerhouse, the soft cutaway Northwest Classic features a long sustaining hard rock maple neck; Tusq nut and saddle for perfect consistency; ebony fretboard and winged bridge. It comes equipped with an LR Baggs Anthem pickup system.

Finally, the safety and longevity of Northwest are assured by the inclusion of an Ameritage hard case, custom-built to fit it perfectly. With Masterclass guitars being heirloom grade instruments, only the best case will suffice. Ameritage cases retail for £895, and are more than up to the job of protecting such a guitar.
