Breedlove Oregon Series

Named after Breedlove's home state of Oregon, the Breedlove Oregon series of acoustic guitars are made in the company's Bend workshop by some of America's finest guitar luthiers. Oregon Series guitars feature either Sitka-Myrtlewood, or all Myrtlewood construction with gloss tops, semi-gloss back and sides, maple necks and ebony fretboard and bridges. Myrtlewood is Breedlove's local tonewood. Sustainable, tonally vibrant and beautifully figured, Breedlove are particularly skilled working with this wood, growing as it does in their back yard!

Breedlove Oregon Series Electro-Acoustic Guitars - in stock in the UK

Breedlove's Oregon Sitka - Myrtlewood guitars features Sitka spruce as their soundboard wood. Sitka is the most commonly used acoustic guitar soundboard material, but not all Sitka is of the same quality. The Sitka utilised by Breedlove is between four- and six-hundred years old, and grows exceptionally slowly in the harsh climate of Alaska. Breedlove never fells an ancient tree, but works with Alaska Specialty Woods to salvage trunks which have blown down. The result is that Breedlove is able to use the best quality Sitka in its guitars with no detrimental impact on sustainability.

In terms of back and sides wood, Myrtlewood is gaining prominence as a good alternative to the traditionally used Rosewood and Mahogany. These majestic trees grow along Oregon’s Pacific Coast and develop rich, colourful figuring due to the battering they receive from the Pacific wind and rain. No two pieces are alike, and the figuring is both striking and unique. Highly musical, Myrtlewood exhibits characteristics familiar from Rosewood, Mahogany and Maple. It is extremely balanced across the bass, mids and trebles.

All-Myrtlewood Breedlove Oregon models utilise Myrtlewood for the top wood, its extra stiffness providing a palpable increase in power. Myrtlewood's natural clarity and brightness is augmented by its fitment to the top, back and sides of the instrument. These guitars are very versatile, and have gained fans across a wide variety of playing styles.

Breedlove Oregon series acoustic guitars benefit from Breedlove's coveted Sound Optimization process, whereby each piece of tonewood is individually honed according to its unique density and consistency. Tonewoods can vary widely, within species and even within the same tree. Once built, each instrument is further optimised to ensure that all tonewoods work perfectly in conjunction with each other. This is incredibly precise, with each guitar body being painstakingly optimised to a specific hertz rating.

When it comes to live performance, Breedlove Oregon series guitars are fitted with high quality LR Baggs Element Active pickups. LR Baggs produces some of the world's finest guitar pickups, with systems being fitted to the most specialist hand made instruments. Oregon series guitars are supplied with a deluxe Breedlove hard case.
