This Oregon-based guitar company has gone from strength to strength since its inception in the early '90s, garnering both praise and fans through innovative features such as the Breedlove pinless bridge and bridge truss system. Breedlove's necks are also noteworthy, with the necks on American-made Breedloves taking days to complete. They feel truly wonderful to play.

The latest crop of Breedlove guitars are better than ever before, coming in a range of body styles from the small bodied Concertina, through the original Concert, to the big-bodied Concerto. Breedlove is a company which is not only passionate about guitars, but also about building guitars in a sustainable manner. As such, local and sustainable materials are used in many of their instruments, including Myrtlewood, a stunning tonewood which has the added benefit of beautiful figuring.

All Breedlove instruments feature solid-wood soundboards, including the entry-level Discovery range. Pursuit instruments add a range of upgrades including gloss finishes and LR Baggs pickup systems. The Breedlove Pursuit Exotic range builds on the foundation of the Pursuit range, adding a stunning array of exotic tonewoods. The Stage and Stage Exotic series feature all-solid construction, with the Stage Exotic Series, again, utilising beautifully figured tonewoods. The Breedlove Solo series of guitars all feature additional soundholes on the top bout, resulting in a much more immersive playing experience for the guitarist.

Breedlove's American-made guitars start with the USA Series, which features paired back aesthetics, but superb projection due to the woods being incredibly thin and much lighter than equivalent instruments. Oregon Series instruments either feature all-Myrtlewood construction, or a combination of Sitka Spruce and Myrtlewood. The Breedlove Premier Series of guitars utilises the classic combination of Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood, while frontier Series instruments feature all-mahogany construction. Finally, Breedlove's flagship production range - the Legacy series - is a truly stunning example of the finest in materials and American guitar lutherie.

All American-made Breedloves, bar the USA series, utilise Breedlove's sound-optimisation process, which ensures that all tonewoods are thinned to their optimum thickness on an individual basis. Once the soundbox has been constructed, it is again optimised so that all the constituent tonewoods resonate perfectly in conjunction with each other.

If you are looking for a custom-made instrument, Breedlove's Masterclass programme allows the discerning guitarist to create their own bespoke guitar. This is an incredibly flexible process, with Breedlove able to accommodate even the most intricate of inlays and custom options. Breedlove has acquired one of the world's largest legal stockpiles of Brazilian Rosewood, making this classic and still-superlative tonewood a readily-available option.
