We try to make it as clear as possible on our product pages so you know if an item is in stock and ready to ship. We send everything via a tracked service. Please ensure you provide a valid mobile number and email address during checkout so our delivery partners can keep you fully updated on your delivery day.
For items marked 'On Order with Supplier', we will do our best to contact you once you have placed your order with an estimated delivery timeframe. Please bear in mind that we are at the mercy of our supply chain and these dates can occasionally slip due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have any questions whatsoever regarding a delivery, please contact us and we'll be happy to look into it for you.
Yes, we can usually accommodate this by delaying dispatch from our store so your order leaves us closer to your preferred date. To arrange this, please contact us after ordering (you can reply to your order confirmation email) or simply leave a note in the comments box during checkout stating which day you would like to receive it.
Once your order is on its way, both DPD and Royal Mail offer 'in-flight' options via their tracking links or apps, allowing you to rearrange the delivery day if your plans change. However, to keep your instrument as safe as possible, we always recommend coordinating a delivery date with us beforehand so your items spend the minimum amount of time in transit.
Yes! If you live locally or want to visit the shop, you can select Collect from Merchant City Music during checkout.
How it works: Once your order is placed, we will process it and send you a separate 'Ready for Collection' email. Please do not travel to the store until you have received this confirmation.
What you need to bring: To protect against fraud and ensure your items go to the right person, you must bring the following when collecting your order:
A copy of your Order Confirmation or Ready for Collection email (on your phone is fine).
The photographic ID of the person who placed the order (a valid Driving License or Passport).
The payment card used to complete the purchase.
Please note that we cannot release orders to couriers or friends/family members collecting on your behalf unless arranged and verified with us over the phone beforehand.
Yes. If you would like a different set of strings fitted before your order is dispatched, simply add your preferred strings to the basket along with your instrument and leave us a note during checkout.
Our workshop team will fit the strings you have purchased and set the instrument up accordingly before it leaves the shop. This allows us to optimise the setup for your preferred string gauge and playing style.
If you have any additional setup requests, such as lower action, alternate tunings or other adjustments, please include these in the order comments and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Every guitar we sell is individually checked and professionally set up by our workshop team before dispatch.
The exact work carried out will vary depending on the instrument and its condition, but a typical setup may include:
Checking and adjusting the neck relief where required.
Setting the string action for comfortable playability.
Checking the nut and bridge for correct operation.
Adjusting the intonation where necessary.
Tightening any loose hardware.
Checking the electronics and controls.
Polishing the frets where required.
Oiling unfinished fingerboards and bridges where appropriate.
Cleaning and polishing the instrument.
Tuning the guitar and carrying out a final play test.
Our aim is to ensure your instrument arrives playing as well as possible straight out of the box. If you have any specific setup requirements, such as a different string gauge, alternate tuning or lower action, please let us know when placing your order and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

It can, depending on the type of work carried out.
Non-permanent adjustments, such as fitting a different set of strings or carrying out a custom setup, will not normally affect your return rights.
However, permanent modifications, such as installing replacement pickups, changing hardware, drilling additional holes or carrying out other irreversible alterations, may affect your ability to return the instrument if you change your mind.
If you are considering any modifications before dispatch, we will always discuss the implications with you beforehand so that you can make an informed decision.
If you are unsure whether a particular modification will affect your return rights, please contact us and we'll be happy to advise.
