We’re very pleased to be able to offer for sale this FGN Expert Elan EEL-DE-7 7-string in Matte Black, part of FGN’s Expert series of electric guitars. An extremely rare sight in the UK, the “halo” Expert range is beautifully built in FGN’s Japanese Custom Shop by the most skilled luthiers. Our stock guitar is the only one currently available new in the UK and, to our knowledge, won’t be available again in this exact spec. It comes supplied in an FGN Original Hard Case.

FGN Expert Elan EEL-DE-7 in Matte Black - Fujigen’s finest 7-string Made in Japan

With their Expert range of guitars, FGN maxes out their already-impressive quality and attention-to-detail. The company prides itself on the quality of the woods it utilises in its guitars, so it’s fitting that, though the rest of the body is matte black, the profile of the thick maple cap is visible, matching up with the maple binding to the fretboard. The ‘board itself is a beautiful piece of Rosewood with a 305mm radius. This is inlayed with mother of pearl fret markers which resemble a samurai sword slash - unique to the Expert Elan.

Expert Fret Edge treatment and Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.)

The frets are worth a closer look too. Jumbo-sized, they are painstakingly finished using Fujigen’s Expert Fret Edge treatment, contributing to supremely smooth fingering action. The company’s patented Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.) has also been employed. Slightly curved frets are mounted such that each string and fret intersect at right angles, minimising the contact surface. The result is accurate pitch, cleaner, longer sustain and true harmonics.

5-piece Maple/Wenge EL7 neck

Looking at the headstock with its thick body-matching matte black cap, and you’ll note the mother-of-pearl FGN logo, accompanied by the intricate “Expert Elan” script. Visible at the top of the headstock is the 5-piece Maple/Wenge EL7 neck. Beautifully hand-finished, this U-Shape neck is designed to allow lightning fast progress up the length of the 24-fret fretboard. The ergonomic set-neck join allows unimpeded access to the highest frets.

Active Seymour Duncan Blackouts Pickups

When it comes to tone, the foundation of the FGN Expert Elan EEL-DE-7 is the mahogany body. This provides a warm base onto which is added the “snap” of the substantial maple cap. This thick but tight starting point is augmented by the stunning active Seymour Duncan Blackouts pickups, mounted in HH formation.

The neck’s balanced preamp and custom coil geometry reveal both warmth and single note clarity, while the bridge delivers a searing onslaught of distortion. Power-chorded riffs remain tight and responsive whether in standard B or modern drop-A tunings. Highs are crisp and call out for swift arpeggios and tapped passages.

Tone Pros TP7 Bridge, Gotoh SG381 tuners, Hard Case

For the bridge, the FGN Expert Elan EEL-DE-7 has been fitted with the outstanding Tone Pros TP-7 unit, combined with FGN’s original 2-way stringing Brass tailpiece. At the other end, GOTOH® SG381-07 tuners provide silky smooth action and rock solid stability. Appropriately, this stunning guitar comes in a flight-safe hard case with reinforced corners, ensuring your new pride and joy is protected for years to come.
