Larrivee D-40 Special Edition All Mahogany Vintage Sunburst

The Larrivee D 40 Sunburst Special Edition is a dreadnought with a difference. The well-loved dreadnought body provides the tonal foundation, with plenty of projection and openness to the fundamental tone. The tonal quality is where this guitar shines, however, eliciting that classic, woody mahogany character which has wooed so many guitarists over the years. Larrivee’s parabolic hybrid bracing provides the secret weapon, allowing the top-grade tonewoods to shine, with the promised revelation of even greater tonal depths as the guitar matures.

Larrivee’s "Scalloped Parabolic Hybrid" bracing design blends a non-symmetrical scalloped lateral cross-bracing pattern with Larrivee’s tried and true balanced X-Brace system. The result is maximum strength using the least amount of material. It's a build that allows maximum vibration from the soundboard, while still offering a controlled dynamic bass response.

Larrivee prides itself on being plugged in to the entire process of producing a finished, hand-made guitar, from log selection on the forest floor to final quality control in their Oxnard, California workshop. Their aim to build not the most guitars, but the best, is evident on the D40. Hand selection of the woods has ensured that the top, back and sides perform optimally together. Traditional aesthetics, punctuated by intricate rope binding, open-back tuners, diamond inlays to the fretboard and pyramid bridge complete the package.
