This Reverend guitar is no longer available. Please visit our Reverend Brand Page to view our huge stock of current models.

The Reverend Crosscut W is here presented in a Chronic Blue finish with Roasted Maple neck and Pau Ferro Fretboard. Building on the foundation of the Charger, the Crosscut is the first Reverend model to feature a matching set of Railhammer Cleancut pickups. Offering P90-style punch, but with more chime and less mids - all with zero hum - these pickups are revolutionary. A Wilkinson Trem system combines aggressive whammy-bar capability with rock solid intonation, thanks to saddles which lock individually onto the baseplate.

This B Stock example exhibits a couple of cosmetic lacquer cracks at the neck pocket (See pictures). As such, it represents an unusual opportunity to obtain the latest Reverend model for a significant reduction. It is still brand new and covered by its full Reverend warranty for your peace of mind.

The Reverend Crosscut W in Chronic Blue is now available from Merchant City Music, online and in our Glasgow store. Every instrument we sell is subjected to a thorough check over and professional setup, ensuring it sounds and plays its best before it goes out the door. We are a Reverend Guitars Specialist, enabling us to offer the best possible service when it comes to advising you on your new Reverend Guitar, and to support you long after you’ve made it yours. We ship fast to the UK, Europe and Worldwide.

Reverend Crosscut W in Chronic Blue with Roasted Maple Neck and Pau Ferro fretboard

The Charger is among our best-selling Reverend models, and it provides a great basis from which to build an outstanding modified Tele-style instrument such as the Crosscut W. Its contoured body is much more comfortable than a traditional guitar of this type, while the Korina body elevates it to a higher tonal plane too. If that wasn’t enough, the Cross Cut W has a number of additional tricks up its sleeve!

To the Korina body is bolted a Roasted Maple neck, topped with a Pau Ferro fretboard. Reverend pioneered the use of Roasted Maple outside of the high-end, boutique market, offering the benefits of this process at a never-before-seen price point. By roasting the neck wood, impurities and moisture are removed, resulting in much greater stability and resonance. It also gives the maple a darker, caramel hue, resulting in a richer overall look.

Joe Naylor-designed Railhammer Cleancut Humcutter pickups, with Bass Contour Control

The Crosscut W packs two Railhammer Cleancut Humcutter pickups designed by Joe Naylor. Hugely respected in the industry, Joe is the brains behind both the Reverend and Railhammer projects. Railhammer Pickups have been designed to take passive guitar pickups to an entirely new level of performance. Their unique, patented combination of rails under the wound strings and poles under the plain strings results in tighter lows and fatter highs far superior to a conventional pickup—without sacrificing the thickness and sustain only a passive pickup can deliver.

The Cleancut bridge humcutter design has the punch of a P90, but with cleaner and leaner tone: more treble chime and less mids for an open and percussive sound. This is a great pickup for retro rock, surf, rockabilly, country, or any style where beefy twang is the thang. This is combined with the Railhammer Cleancut neck pickup, which is tone and volume optimised for the neck position.

The classic twang of this layout is imbued with greater versatility by Reverend’s Secret Weapon: the Bass Contour Control knob. This passive bass roll-off is great for tightening up the low end, or re-voicing the pickups. Variable pickup voicing at your fingertips!

Road-ready Hardware

Reverend has developed a reputation for building outstandingly hardy gigging instruments. A big part of this capability is the quality of components fitted to every Reverend.

Reverend's Boneite nut reduces friction whilst still transferring the tone of the strings through the guitar. It's more durable than graphite whilst having a more traditional tone and appearance. High quality locking machine heads mean you don't need to worry about the Crosscut W going out of tune. String changes are rapid and it make this a real workhorse of a professional instrument.

The Wilkinson WVS50K Tremolo fitted to the Crosscut W includes saddles that lock to the baseplate, making it as stable as a hardtail bridge. Other features include adjustable arm swing tension, and a push-in/no freeplay arm. Combined with the boneite nut and pin-lock tuners, it stays in tune even under aggressive whammy action.

Complementing the Wilkinson Trem is Reverend’s Vari-Claw. This gives you the option of 3 springs in the middle for a firm tremolo feel, or 2 springs on the outside for a softer feel. The offset hook design lets you switch between 3 or 2 springs, with little or no cumbersome adjustment of the claw needed.

Reverend Triple-Tree, Pure-Tone Jack Socket, and +-10% Pots / Caps

Other Reverend innovations include the Triple-Tree string tree, which has an extended bar to hold down three strings at a time with just one tree, eliminating G string buzz in the nut slot. A six-bolt neck plate increases the mounting pressure of the neck by fifty percent. This makes a stronger neck connection, which improves sustain, tuning stability, and neck alignment.

Similarly, Reverend’s proprietary jack plate features four mounting screws, instead of two. The extra screws prevent the plate from tearing out of the body. Made of steel for durability, the laser etched logo adds an extra touch of class! This is combined with a Pure Tone jack socket for ultimate dependability. A standard jack has single contacts, but the Pure Tone jack has dual contacts for improved grip, audio signal and reliability. This is the most reliable guitar jack available.

Finally, all Reverend guitars have a treble bleed circuit, preserving the treble when you roll back the volume control. When you roll back a standard volume control, the tone loses treble and becomes dull sounding. Now you can turn down and still sound great! Reverend also use Alpha control pots with a +-10% rating. While a typical pot is +-20%, Reverend’s pots are built to tighter specifications, making them more consistent. Reverend’s caps caps are also rated +-10%, while a typical cap is +-20%. Made of polyester, they’re also longer lasting, and less affected by temperature than cheaper ceramic caps.

These upgrades are typically used in expensive boutique guitars, but are standard issue in all Reverends, including this Crosscut W in Chronic Blue.
