Reverend Raymond Bass in Venetian Gold with Roasted Maple Fretboard

The Reverend Raymond Bass is designed for the bassist who wants to get out and play with minimal fuss and maximum results. Elegantly simple in its control interface, three knobs control volume, tone and pickup pan. This final knob allows the player to seamlessly blend between the two pickups at will, producing exactly the desired tone. From there on out, the focus is on quality - in terms of tone and playability.

The tonal element of the Raymond’s strength is provided both by its highly resonant Korina body and twin proprietary Reverend pickups, designed in-house by guitar guru Joe Naylor. The J-Rail Neck pickup provides strong lows and highs, with open mids. It performs like a vintage J bass pickup but with overall thicker tone. The Thick Brick Bridge pickup is warm and thick with strong mids. Its output and punch are similar to an active pickup, but it sounds more organic.

The Rayond’s outstanding playability in achieved in no small part by its 5-piece roasted maple/walnut neck. Reverend is developing a reputation for producing some of the finest Roasted Maple necks available - at any price point. The Roasted Maple neck on the Raymond Bass is heat treated at over 300° F to remove sugars, moisture, and impurities. It is lighter, more stable, and has a beautiful caramel colour. Combined with five-piece construction, the result is a neck that requires less seasonal adjustment, and boasts a rich vintage look.

Reverend’s hardware is really top notch, and accounts for the brand’s huge following among performing artists. The Raymond Bass is fitted with Hipshot Ultralight tuners. Constructed from Aircraft grade aluminium, these tuners are perceptibly lighter than standard tuners and contribute to the Raymond’s outstanding balance. The Boneite nut is more consistent than natural bone, reducing friction and allowing the strings to slide through the nut slots smoothly, improving tuning stability. The upgraded Pure Tone Technologies jack has dual contacts for improved grip, audio signal and reliability. 10% pots and caps are produced to much tighter tolerances than standard, and are more usually found on expensive boutique instruments.
