Reverend Reeves Gabrels Dirtbike Cream

We’re very excited by this new model from Reverend guitars. The Reeves Gabrels Dirtbike Cream is based on the Sensei platform. It has also been released at a time when Reverend have started to make lots of little changes and upgrades to their guitars and the Dirtbike features many of these upgrades. The Reverend Dirtbike is a single pickup, solid body set neck guitar with a tremolo. Reeves Gabrels has always enjoyed the simplicity of a single pickup guitar going straight in to an amp. With this new signature model, Reverend and Reeves have taken that idea and created an absolutely brilliant electric guitar that is a lot more versatile than it first appears. The Reverend Dirtbike features a brand new Railhammer Reeves Gabrels signature humbucker with a super cool brushed nickel cover. Reeves asked Joe Naylor (Reverend and Railhammer founder) to create a mean sounding pickup that offers great pick attack and overtones. It’s got loads of mid range peak that’s a little snarly but never muddy. This Alnico pickup performs amazingly both clean and with gain. The Railhammer design means the lows are kept tight and the highs thick and creamy. The Reeves signature pickup sounds great clean and has plenty of chime. The simple three controls allow you to dial in a surprising amount of tones from this single pickup guitar. You can roll back on the volume when playing with gain to really clean things up. The tone is also kept bright and clear thanks to a treble bleed capacitor on the volume pot. The tone control can be used to warm up the sound to jazzy levels and the bass contour allows you to dial in some snap and single coil like attack. Reverend use high quality potentiometers and capacitors on all of their instruments.

The Reverend Reeves Gabrels Dirtbike Cream is made from solid Korina which is highly resonant and well balanced. The Korina set neck features a six in line headstock which is pitched back and means there is no need for a string tree. The new Blackwoodtek fingerboard is Reverend’s replacement for Rosewood. This upgraded fingerboard material is made from a 100% sustainable softwood that is injected with a polymer and kiln-dried to look and respond like Rosewood. It’s very smooth and looks, feels, and sound terrific. It’s also far more stable than Rosewood thanks to a low moisture content. Fitted to the 12” fingerboard are 22 jumbo frets. Reverend’s fret work is excellent. They are highly polished and perfectly level meaning you can get the action nice and low without any issues.

The Dirtbike has a Wilkinson WVS50 IIK Tremolo fitted along with a recessed cavity and another new Joe Naylor invention, the Vari-Claw. The Vari-Claw allows you to easily switch between 3 springs in the middle hooks of the claw for a firm feel, or 2 springs on the outside recessed hooks of the claw for a soft feel, with little or no adjustment to the claw itself. You can really go wild with the trem and tuning is kept incredibly stable. This is thanks in part to the locking tuners and slippery Boneite nut.

We’ve fallen in love with the Reverend Reeves Gabrels Dirtbike Cream here at Merchant City Music. This new model from Reverend would make an excellent addition to any guitar players collection.
