Brand new for 2020, the Reverend Sentinel Bass features a 30” scale and is here presented in Reverend’s Metallic Alpine finish. This new bass joins the Dub King and Wattplower in Reverend’s short scale bass line up, adding its own unique style and voice to the mix. If you’ve played either of these previous models, you’ll know that Reverend has strong form in this area, and the Sentinel doesn’t disappoint! The simple looks belie genuine tonal versatility, while the raised centre block really bolsters the P-Blade pickup’s latent thumping output.

The Reverend Sentinel is now available from Merchant City Music, online and in our Glasgow store, every instrument we sell is subjected to a thorough check over and professional setup, ensuring it sounds and plays its best before it goes out the door. We are a Reverend Guitars Specialist, enabling us to offer the best possible service when it comes to advising you on your new Reverend Guitar or Bass, and to support you long after you’ve made it yours.

Reverend Sentinel Bass in Metallic Alpine with 30” Scale and Raised Korina Centre Ridge

Reverend’s tone wood of choice - Korina - is the foundation on which each of their instrument’s is built, and the new Sentinel Bass is no exception. Korina is an outstanding tone wood, combining light weight, tonal character and consistency. These factors combine to produce three of Reverend’s core attractions for players: they’re comfortable to play over a longer period (no hunched backs here), they sound amazing and they simply don’t make any duds!

The Korina body on the Reverend Sentinel has a raised centre block, or ridge, which provides a massive grounding platform for the single P-Blade pickup. To this block is set a 3-piece Korina neck, effectively creating one seamless stretch of Korina up the length of the bass. The result is an instrument which really feels alive in your hands. Beautifully-finished fretwork is another Reverend hallmark, allowing the action to go nice and low. The Rosewood fretboard is inlayed with pearloid blocks, giving the Sentinel a premium look.

P-Blade Pickup with 3-way Variable Voicing

Reverend’s P-Blade pickup might look a bit exposed there on that raised centre block, but don’t worry for this wee chappy, he can hold his own! Designed by Joe Naylor - Reverend’s technical wizard and chief instrument designer - this split single-coil builds on the success of the classic P-Bass pickup. As with everything Joe touches, the result is magic! The P-Blade captures the classic P-bass character, but with increased volume, sustain, clarity, and extended low end response.

What about versatility, we hear you ask? Joe has you covered here, too. The Sentinel has been fitted with a 3-way voicing switch, allowing the player to brighten up the output, make it deeper, or leave it as normal. The result is a bass which manages the impossible, combining elegant simplicity with true versatility.

High end Hardware and Electronics

Another key Reverend attraction is the company’s focus on deep component quality. You may not ever ask about the consistency rating on your guitar’s pots or caps, but you’ll notice the difference when you’re on stage. Reverend has fitted the Sentinel with +-10% rated pots and caps, made to considerably higher tolerances than the +-20% items found in other instruments at this price point.

Reverend’s high mass bridge features heavy duty saddles in combination with a massive base plate. This substantial mass of metal enhances clarity and attack, and produces bell-like sustain. It's also a versatile bridge, allowing the Sentinel to be strung string-thru-body or top-load.

In terms of tuners, the Sentinel has been fitted with Hipshot Ultralights. These tuners have a housing made of aircraft grade aluminium, making them extra-light. The difference in weight can be as much as 2-3oz less in the headstock, which means a more balanced bass that’s more comfortable to play. They even have a tonal benefit, increasing definition.

If you’re looking for a short scale bass which combines outstanding quality with simplicity - without sacrificing versatility - you’ve found it in the Reverend Sentinel.
