Yamaha SG1820 Vintage White, Japanese Craftsmanship

This Yamaha SG1820 Vintage White has been individually hand crafted by highly skilled master luthiers on a dedicated production line at Yamaha Music Craft in Hamamatsu, Japan, where top-of-the-line handcrafted acoustic and custom guitars are produced. The Yamaha SG1820 also features Initial Response Acceleration (IRA), a Yamaha original manufacturing technique that is utilized on violins, etc. The Yamaha SG has evolved to the next dimension!

Yamaha SG1820 with Initial Response Acceleration

If you've ever played another guitarist's instrument and not been able to get the same sound, it's probably because you are playing a different style than what the guitar is used to. After playing the same guitar for years, the guitar adapts to the guitarist's playing style. It takes time for a new guitar to adapt to your own way of playing. Stress found between parts like finish, woods, body, neck, fingerboard, nut, bridge, etc., must be released before all of the parts can resonate together as an instrument. It takes time and a lot of playing for this to happen. Using IRA technology, stresses like those between the finish and wood are release by applying specific vibrations to the completed guitars. Once this treatment is complete, the guitar responds accurately to the guitarist's performance, and produces sound more easily. It also shortens the time needed for the guitar to adapt to your playing style and it delivers excellent sustain.

Whilst the model name features the letters "SG", the Yamaha SG1820 is much more a direct competitor of the Les Paul. This is down the the depth of the body. This is not a lightweight instrument. The body and glued in neck are made from solid Mahogany with a carved Maple top. The depth of the body and chunky profile of the neck give the SG1820 bags of tone and sustain. The fretwork on the Rosewood fingerboard is perfection. Showing Japanese craftsmanship at its finest. Each fret sits over the binding extending all the way to the edge of the fingerboard. This prevents string drops when bending or vibrating the E strings.

Yamaha have fitted some outstanding pickups and hardware to the SG1820. The Seymour Duncan '59 humbuckers perfectly compliment the construction offering everything from jazz to blues to rock. Tonepros AVRII and T1Z bridge and tailpiece look like they belong here whilst improving the transfer of sound. They also cleverly lock the components to their studs meaning no more pieces falling off the guitar when you change strings. Grover locking tuners make restringing easier and provide rock solid tuning stability. All the hardware is finshed in nickel. You also get a Graph Tech Tusq nut, Switchcraft toggle and CTS pots with speed knobs.

The Yamaha SG1820 comes in a superb hard case. This hard case provides both an excellent fit and luxurious appearance. Inner cushioning envelops and protects the guitar. In the case you'll find a "Yamaha Music Craft Certificate" certifying that the instrument has been assembled and adjusted by a skilled craftsman, and that Initial Response Acceleration has been applied.

The Yamaha SG1820 Vintage White is one of the finest electric guitars we have ever had. If you decide to buy this guitar you will not be disappointed!
